Ecology

Live in tropical, sub-band shallow water, often in intertidal reef zone near the benthonic habitat. Normally hide under the covert rock blocks, gaps between coral reefs and caves. They are afraid of light and stay behind the rocks in the day time. 8 samples have been collected under the rock in Gold Coast seaway, QLD Australia. All of them were hidden in the shadow. In Australia, Caputserpentis can be found in most of the coastal area. They are rifely larger size in NSW sea area. They only can be found behind the rock or coral in daytime. Caputserpentis come out for hunting at night to avoid predator (Burgess 1970).
